"Fifty-two miles on the #20 Bus Rug" - Mile 18

I'm so smug about this project. For years I've been traveling to work and back on the number 20 bus and although the distance hasn't changed, the time required to reach point "B" from point "A" has ballooned to an hour. That's an hour each way, folks - to travel 7 miles, five days a week. In good weather. Thank you so much subdivision developers! Ten hours a week of deadly boring time.

Turns out that crocheting 2 inch wide strips is more manageable than reading (cell phone conversations have made that impossible), listening to music (I'm going deaf from turning up the volume to drown out cell phone conversations) and it's more engaging and less enraging than counting how many minutes it takes to move half a car length.

Sooo....above is the progress to date. Behind, on the left, a felted roll and in the middle, the beginning of the roll, strips folded in half and stitched together. On the right, the next roll in progress - not yet felted. About 70 feet in all. Turns out the trickiest part is sewing this big fat Sushi together while keeping it flat. a foot or so out, and I'll have to rest it on a table to work.

Now...if only I could figure out a way to bead on an overcrowded bus, I'd be all set.

You poor thing! I am so much a country girl. I would go nuts if I had to do that everyday. That rug is gonna look great, I love the colors.

Ha! Ha! Ha! Good luck with that! ;)
I've yet to master beading on any moving vehicle... But crocheting, that I can do.
I've just spent four glorious days in my Mum's company, beading, crocheting and knitting. So relaxing! :)

Hello Linda,
I have been "studying" your work lately and I enjoyed it. You dare colours and contrasts which I would not have dared, not even dreamt about if I had not seen your work.
It has been one year since I have got interested in beadwork, and I wish I could get more involved.
You can have a look at the message I posted in my blog, there is something about you.
