Bead Journal - First Page
It looks like my version of the bead journal will be a visual representation of my internal weather. In May and June, going through a relationship crash and burn, I picked up my needle and beads. The image on the left is "wingless," at the top, a pen and ink drawing, "Purdah," and bottom right, "Shattered." Not light images - but as much of my beading time is spent making (I hope) beautiful things, adornments, the journal is giving me a chance to push myself in a deeper direction. I find that I'm constantly thinking of odd ways I can use old techniques in a new way and I may be incorporating found objects or photographs, as well. I think my pages will be mounted on matting board & boxed. In every way, I feel pushed to expand with this project and I'm absolutely thrilled to have 11 more pages to go.
And now...back to bracelets and teaching, while I plot the next image!

Stunning .....I look forward to the next 11 months of your art.
what an exciting piece. VERY powerful.
Gorgeous. Can't wait to see the next one.
Thanks Judi d, acey, christina! I'm about to start June/July - and it may be a complete wash - but the only way to know is to put in 40 hours. Is that the downside of beading?
Very nice lj! Is each element separate or are they on a single background piece? You are very skilled. Your woman looks very dejected even without facial expression.
freebird - all on one background. I'm going to work in small pieces, filling an outer size of 4"x4.5"...
It leaves me some leeway to experiment with shaping pieces differently, too - and it feels narrative to do different images.
Thanks for dropping by.
Wonderful rich colors - it's beautiful - everything about it.
What strong color and design in your powerful piece.
Very powerful and... wrenching, too. I guess we've all gone through times like this, and you express it so very well. Your color choice is excellent. I look forward to the next 11.
Hi Linda,
First: I must thank you for I'm a part of the Bead journal project thanks to you!
Second: Wow... your first page is really stunning. I love the colours you used and the design of the whole page. I feel a real power inside.
One day (very near), you will have a surprise on my blog, my dear friend :o)))

Hi Linda,
I love ALL your beadwork! The messages they send are so inspiring! Glad you are part of this project,
Lillian from WA BJP
40 hours a downside? surely not! I'm already in love with it and it doesn't even have a single bead down yet..or does it?
This is true art:)
Everyone thank you SO much for the encouragement. I wish you all lived next door. Imagine the beading circle we could make! This is some amazing group - that's all I can say! I'm honored and thrilled to a part of it and meet so many other addicts...um...artists, I mean. And no BB 40 hours is not a downside. I'm at five now - and hopeful. LB - Thank you. High praise and appreciated. Wow, from Canada to Paris to USA! Maybe we should try moving a mountain next!
