The most surprising thing about teaching bead embroidery and spiral classes was not that everyone actually did their homework (although that was close to the top) - it was the level of creativity and innovation. I was thrilled to work with the group - from the student who claimed she couldn't sew a button on to the student who could teach me a trick or two, everyone was a delight. One student, finding her spiral work not turning out exactly as she wanted, came up with a new variation on the stitch. The women used colors I might never have dreamed would compliment each other, but ended up looking spectacular. Thank you Laurie, Kim, Susan, Robin, Sarah, Mary and Claudine for teaching me what a joy teaching can be - (and Susan? I am stealing your variation on the stitch!) And congratulations on your wonderful work.
The pictures aren't perfect, but they should give you some idea of why I'm so tickled. I'm posting these on the small side - but you can click to enlarge. Color is adjusted as close as I could get, but still not quite true - and apologies for the light refraction on some!

Thanks BB. I wish we'd had decent photos of all the cuffs. I wish we'd had decent photos, period! It was a last minute thought and the beautiful colors don't come through. They were a great group to work with and I think I'd like to do a lot more teaching. Dying to do a beaded & woven beads class.
