2nd from left (in purple) - Bead size 6 core with two 11s & one 6 for each spiral stitch.

Necklace sizes:

Short – 18 inches (collarbone)
Medium – 24 inches
Very long – 36 inches

Supplies:

You need the beads (amounts below), thread to match in size D (or use what you have doubled), your needles, a beading cloth, scissors and an S-hook, lobster catch, or any single strand catch or clasp you fancy. Buying Thread Heaven is a good idea, too.

Colours ladies!
You can make the necklaces in two or three colours. The purple above uses the same colour for the core and the middle bead of the outside spiral, with copper size 11s for accent.

Or - You can choose three colors: one for the core, one for the small accent beads, one for the center bead of the outside spiral. If you are doing this, take the number of size 6 or 8 beads listed in the "a" projects, divide the amount in half. For example: if your necklace calls for 7 grams of size 6, you need 3.5 grams of each of the colours. (And of course, you'll end up buying two twenty gram packages because no one is going to sell you 3.5 grams!)

**The 4mm bead can be: Firepolish, Swarovski crystal, 4-5mm pearl, glass pearl, druk (round bead), cat’s eye, or semi-precious stone. Tiny Tim drops are a standard 4mm x 6mm size.

Note that if anything is sold per 16 inch strand, that equals 100 4mm beads (give or take one).

You can choose one or more accent beads if you like – Bali Silver, or a larger bead, pearl, crystal or handmade glass focal – up to 10 or 12 mm. All these can be found at the various suppliers listed on the right of the blog.

Last word. Never estimate down. Always buy a little more than you need. The monitor-impaired should print this out!
