Workroom rearrangement #309

Ok. Maybe it isn't the 309th time I've rearranged my studio - but it felt like that after I lugged all the furniture. But I'm happy to have better storage and more surface space to work - I actually have empty drawers and spaces, although that never seems to last for long.

I love the new desk from Best Craft Organizer (single pedestal on sale now, folks!) and the wonderful 2" deep drawers. If you haven't seen their storage units, it's sure worth a look. The desk I received was sturdy, all the parts were there, the bolt and cam lock system is secure and easy to work with (one Phillips head screwdriver only) and the delivery time (west to east coast in Canada) was ten days. Great service.

Now. Where was I on those dominoes? And PS! I have resolved not to fill those empty drawers too fast. Cleaning and reorganizing, I realized what a terminal bead shopaholic I actually am.
Anyone know the feeling?

Of course you realize, H, that it's tidy because I JUST finished rearranging and cleaning it. It doesn't look like that when I'm actually working!
BB - Too many beads. Like an addict, one is too many and one million is never enough! I'm trying to make a challenge out of it...use what I HAVE. As I rearranged, I found things I'd completely forgotten I had - which is fun (and scary).

I tried to get my husband to look at your room but failed. He'd have to add a room on to the house for me to be able to fit so much into a space. Lots of work areas is what I like. Like how you show your pieces so you can enjoy them and refer to them.

LB - Organization in my space is the symbolic way I get my life in order and clear my head to think about new projects. Once I'm really working, chaos reigns.
Freebird - I use the large bedroom in a two bedroom apartment. My bedroom is the size of a broom closet. (Shows you what's important, huh?) Except for the spiffy new desk, most of my furniture almost qualifies as vintage. It took a lot of time and thought to figure out how on earth to squeeze it all in without feeling like I was getting squeezed out. Notice the wooden box on the new desk? That's my portable beading station for the days when I want to move myself around!

Hi Tanya Z.
Easy enough to be neat and clean when you've just spent the better part of two days organizing, scrubbing, rearranging and throwing out. Now, you'll notice that I don't post pictures of the studio when I'm in mid-project...'nuff said.

I have a studio which is beyond description - it's the junk room. Haven't made any art in there for years, but your space is inspiring me to begin to work on mine, a little at a time. Chaos. That describes it.

any smith - my workroom gets pretty awful. Storage is the main issue - places to put things so I can easily see them and find them. The work room is "in progress" and has been for 3 years. My best addition was the craft organizer desk - which is a godsend. I'd like to buy a unit with 1 inch drawers too. I find that the problem is that my stuff doesn't take up much height - and normal drawers, I have to pile things layers deep...
Good luck on revamping your space.

Been THERE! Wow! I can't tell you how many times that's happened to me. Especially while 'spring cleaning'. I found bead related stuff in my BATHROOM!

And
"It took a lot of time and thought to figure out how on earth to squeeze it all in without feeling like I was getting squeezed out."

Well, I can relate to that. I remember when my only roommate was a lovely black cat named Isis. Now, with a 6 year old, a grown (messy) man, a goldfish and a lizard, it's tough to keep our individual 'spots'. There's just so much stuff, and not enough space. And clutter really has a detrimental affect on my creativity. I think we're headed in the right direction though, we've had a successful 'things' purge lately. Very freeing. ;)

What a great creative space !
It looks so neat and organized, I'm sure It'll bring beautiful new designs.
I really like the three shells on the wall in front of your desk.

...what is it with beaders and expanding stash ? As soon as I manage to create a free space, it never takes long before it's invaded with newcoming beads !!

Hello mcways! I made those 3 shelves from a plank I bought. Not having a saw of my own, I had the lumber yard cut the plank in three. Bought brackets & voila! Also, beading supplies are a kind of viral thing...they grow and mutate.
